Who we are

A family practice built on
30 years of authentic craft

MDJ Conservation was founded by Mike David Jones, whose passion for historic buildings has shaped every aspect of how we work. Over three decades, Mike has assembled a team that shares his philosophy: that old buildings deserve to be repaired honestly, with the right materials, the right methods, and genuine care for what they represent.

Whether it's a palace or a garden wall, every project receives exactly the same dedication. We work across Oxfordshire, Berkshire and the south east, and we are also involved in teaching — running courses on lime brickwork and flintwork for other practitioners in the trade.

Flint Wall Building & Repair

Flint is one of the most demanding materials in traditional building — and one of the most beautiful. Whether you need a new garden wall, a flint panel on a new build, repairs to an existing wall or flintwork on a listed building, MDJ Conservation has the skill and experience to deliver exceptional results.

We work with all types of flint — random unknapped, knapped chalk flint, coursed and galleted — always laid in traditional lime mortar and matched carefully to the surrounding fabric.
